Dr Shiddiky graduated with a PhD from Pusan National University (Busan, South Korea; adviser: Professor Yoon-Bo Shim). He is currently a Senior Lecturer and Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) CDF Fellow in the School of Natural Sciences at Griffith University. He is also a Research Leader at the Queensland Micro- and Nanotechnology Centre. Prior to joining Griffith, he was an Associate Group Leader in the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) at The University of Queensland. He has several years of post-doctoral research experience in the School of Chemistry of Monash University (adviser: Professor Alan M. Bond) and in the AIBN of The University of Queensland (adviser: Professor Matt Trau). The primary goal of Dr Shiddiky’s research is to bring the next generation of microfluidics, electrochemistry and nanotechnology tools to alleviate current problems in patient care, especially in cancer, infectious diseases and neurodegenerative diseases. His group is working together with chemists, biomedical engineers, biologists and clinicians for the development of novel nanomaterials, translational medicine technologies and devices for diagnosing, monitoring and treating these diseases. He is well known in the microfluidics and electrochemistry community for his contributions to the field, especially for the development of microfluidics and electrochemistry based sensing technologies. He has published many high impact papers on topics in nano-biosensors, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and translational research. He was one of the recipients of an ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA), an NHMRC Career Development Fellowship, an UQ Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, an UQ Early Career Researcher Award, a Graduate Student Award for PhD research excellence (from Pusan National University, South Korea). |
