Supervision Overview

I am Principal Supervisor for a number of PhD scholarship students in Screenwriting and Creative Practice and I have supervised students in the area of Screenwriting, Film Studies and Creative Practice at PhD, Masters and Honours level. My PhD in Narrative and New Media included the following examiner's feedback: ‘Ms McVeigh has undertaken a substantial and original doctoral dissertation concerning the fate of narratology in digital media formations…Her refinement of existing theoretical models of narrative is substantial and significant… She brings to the project considerable critical acumen… (her) achievement is equivalent to the best international standards’ (Professor Sean Cubitt, PhD Examiner’s Report 2018).

Bio

I am Head Screenwriting & Contextual Studies at Griffith Film School and a member of the SRN (Screenwriting Research Network) International Executive. My research and teaching focuses on Creativity and the Creative Process in Screenwriting and Filmmaking. I have had extensive national and international industry experience in Public Relations and Post Production and I have worked as Commissioning Editor for Wiley publishers and as Writer for the ABC’s, ABC Splash. I am passionate about providing opportunities for my students to discover and develop their academic and creative voice by seeking inspiration in the work of great filmmakers and writing for the transcultural world in which they will live and work.
