Mark Finnane is ARC Laureate Fellow at Griffith University, Professor of History in the School of Humanities, and a member of the Griffith Criminology Institute. He is a former Dean of Humanities and Dean of Graduate Studies at Griffith. He was Director of CEPS in 2009. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities (elected 2001), and of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia (2013). Mark’s doctoral research on mental illness is the foundation for his later work on the history of policing, punishment and criminal justice.
