Dr Byung-Seong Min is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of International Business and Asian Studies within the Griffith Business School.

His current research focus includes:

Background

Bio

Byung-Seong Min is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of International Business and Asian Studies within the Griffith Business School. Byung is an expert in the field of Asian business and corporate strategy in relation to Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Australia, based on his work experiences and research publications. He has held the position of Program Director for Bachelor of International Business and First Year Advisor at Nathan and Gold Coast campuses, as well as Program Director for Bachelor of Asian Business (Honours) at Nathan campus. Byung is a member of the Griffith Asia Institute and Griffith Centre for Sustainable Enterprise research centres and was awarded a Griffith Group Learning and Teaching Citation in 2006 for his innovative teaching methods. He has held Taiwan Fellowship in 2018.

Following work experiences with the Korea Development Institute and the Korea Environment Institute as research fellow, Byung joined Monash University in 1997 as a lecturer in Economics. He ranked in the top position at the entrance examination of the Hanyang University (Business Faculty), which is one of the top five universities in Korea and graduated with Distinction (First Class Honours). With scholarship from the Australian Government (DFAT) he obtained his PhD in 1995 at the Australian National University.

Byung's research covers corporate governance, family business, organisational change, sustainability, trade and investments focusing on Korea, Australia, Taiwan and Japan. His current research includes Chaebol (Korean business conglomerate) and reforms; organisational change; corporate governance reform in Northeast Asia; and corporate social responsibility. His articles are published by Journal of World Business, International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Cleaner Production, Economic Modelling, International Review of Finance and Pacific Basin Finance Journal.
