Background

Bio

Dr Thomson has published refereed journal articles and book chapters on the sport and social legacies of sport events. Dr Thomson graduated from UTS in 2015 with her PhD, which investigated event legacies of large-scale sport events. She has worked as a consultant and policy official in the area of sport event legacy. Upon graduating from her PhD mid-2015, Dr Thomson was approached to fill the role of Principal Policy Officer within the Office of the Commonwealth Games (OCG), responsible for providing strategic advice to senior policymakers on areas of social and sporting legacy emanating from GC2018. She managed the intra-government Legacy Steering Committee and external Legacy Advisory Committee. Dr Thomson also represented OCG on the cross-agency Legacy Working Group, responsible for updating and operationalising the GC2018 legacy strategy in line with the two years to go milestone.
