As a midwife I aim to ensure maternity and early years services, policy, research and education use the best available evidence to provide high quality accessible care that meets the individual needs of women and their families. My long-term programme of infant feeding research is continually informed by the changing views and experiences of women and their families in a range of contexts. I aim to position women and their families at the centre by using collaborative and coproduction approaches to develop testable interventions that are meaningful to women. My recent realist evaluation of the introduction of midwifery continuity of carer within a large urban health service gave me profound insight into the organisational context and how it can influence how practice change is implemented and sustained.
