BIO

Michele is Professor of Disability and Rehabilitation Research with Griffith University and the Division of Rehabilitation, Metro South Health, in Queensland Australia. She is an internationally recognised social work and health services research academic with a strong interdisciplinary track record in rehabilitation, disability services, and primary health care research. Her research focuses primarily on policy implementation and how policy reforms and service delivery innovations translate into local contexts through organisational and frontline practices. Following completion of her PhD in 2001 at the University of Queensland, she was awarded an National Health and Medical Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship with Griffith University before taking up the position of Research Fellow at the Social Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of York in the UK. She returned to The University of Queensland for nine years as a Teaching and Research academic before her current appointment. Michele has a thorough understanding of the interaction of research, policy and practice and importance of knowledge translation based on years of applied and practice-based research within health, rehabilitation and disability systems.
